Where Your Content and Answer Data Are Stored
The short answer
Your content, the analysis we run on it, and the logs of any answer system we deploy stay in the jurisdiction you choose. If you have your own infrastructure, we deploy there. If you want us to provide hosting, UK organizations host on UK servers through ecocpanel.co.uk, and international organizations choose a country through ecocpanel.com.
Location Decides Which Rules Apply
Data sovereignty is the principle that data is subject to the laws of the country where it is held. Data on a UK server falls under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Data held abroad can also fall under another country's laws. The US CLOUD Act, for example, lets US authorities require US-based providers to hand over data they control, wherever it is stored.
Choosing where your data lives is choosing the legal framework it sits under. For a regulated organization that decision belongs with you, made deliberately, not inherited from a vendor's default.

The one exception is one you control. If you choose to connect an AI provider to an answer system, the questions sent to that provider are processed where that provider operates. By default no provider is connected, and you can use AI without a live connection at all.

Can you work entirely inside our own environment?
Yes. We can deploy onto your servers or hosting and carry out the work there, so your content never leaves infrastructure you control.
Do you copy our content to your own systems to analyze it?
Analysis runs on local tooling and nothing is sent to an external service. Where a working copy is needed, we agree in writing where it is held and when it is deleted before we take it.
Does UK hosting on its own make us compliant with UK GDPR?
No. Location is one part of compliance. It decides which law applies, but you still need a lawful basis for processing, sensible retention, and the other obligations your data protection officer oversees. We make the location decision simple and documented.
Can we change the hosting location later?
Yes. Deliverables are documented and run independently, so they can be moved to another jurisdiction or onto your own infrastructure when your requirements change.
